Revision: Key Word Bullseye

(1)
A good revision task that get students to improve description and understanding of key words. Create key word cards with 5 words/facts they need to include. Students take it in turns to be told the key word and describe it trying to get as many of the 5 points in the key word. however many of the points they get off the card they score that many points. Students take it on turns after 3 rounds whoever has scored more wins.

Twitter Template Worksheet/Homework

(0)
A lesson where students create a twitter account for a person they have been learning about or a book. They need to think about they key things that they would say and maybe hashtags. Also done this as a summary task where students have to create tweets for their subject and at least 7 tweets about what they have learnt.
Revision: Key Word Connect 4

Revision: Key Word Connect 4

(1)
This version of connect four involves printing off the tokens and laminating them. This allows you to write on key words. At the end of a lesson students can be chosen to choose a key word and define it and then place it on the game grid. This is a good way of using AFL to gauge students understanding, this works especially well for revision of a topic
T&L: Reward Scratch Cards

T&L: Reward Scratch Cards

(0)
These cards are simple, print and laminate. All you need to do is buy scratch card stickers, easy to find on the internet, and place them on the cards over the reward words. Or you can mix silver paint and fairy liquid and paint on them and this can be scratched off. These work well as prizes in lessons as students are excited to see what they have won. Used them for rewards for good lesson work and homework

Homework: Teaching Home

I always struggle when planning what homework should be set and then moaning about having increased my own workload with more marking. So I created this to solve those problems, every so often I get students to take this sheet home and to explain to an adult at home what they have learnt. The parents them comment what has been explained to them to ensure they have done it. I then expanded it to allow parents to have a dialogue and ask any questions about their child’s learning and work. This helped to increase parental engagement which was low and reduced marking on Homework. I have done this with all different years. I allowed students to also do this with other members of staff including their tutors and homework club if they have issues at home.

T&L: Quick Fire Answer Cards

Print out, cut up, fold in half, laminate and add to key ring. I leave these on the table in resources trays with other things such as glues, scissors, pens etc. I use these for multiple choice questions to get quick AFL for factual recall. I pose the question for 1 min then the answers come up and students have to hold up the correct answer card. These can also be used for voting in class and in debates
Zombie Attack Timer

Zombie Attack Timer

(0)
A timer that works well for spotlight and quickfire questioning. Choose one student to sit in front of the projected screen whilst other students then have a minute to ask as many questions before the Zombie moves forward and attacks. The screen flickers and the zombie moves bit by bit. This works well for a competition to see how many questions each student can answer. Comes with Zombie Sound effects which can be switched off if desired.

Takeaway Homework(4 Versions: Starbooks, KFC, Pizza, FA League)

These sheets are handed out when setting homework and students choose one that they are going to complete. Each version of takeaway homework has some different tasks so I use different ones every so often to give students a range. I have a homework loyalty card so students know if they just the harder choices they get more stamps, with a completed card earning them a reward e.g phone call home. This worked really well to push students to challenge themselves. For the Pizza one I print out all the slices cut and laminate. I then went to local pizza chain and asked for a clean empty box and then placed them all in there. When setting homework students took a slice to do. The Starbooks version has a downloaded font so might not appear on the word document so a PDF is included which will have the chalk text effect.
Plenary Battle

Plenary Battle

A great way to end a lesson. Split the class into two teams then either ask questions to the class and which ever team answer gets to attack the other person. The first to three attacks win. Each attack is animated and with sound affects. All year groups have loved this. I’ve also made it into a debate battle where teams aim to out debate each other with a change to attack the other.
Social Media Plenary Wheel and Dice

Social Media Plenary Wheel and Dice

A good way to end the lesson. Press the spin button and see what social media themed plenary it will land on students then end the lesson in the task. Click on the app and the activity will appear to increase interest and engagement I’ve also created it in a dice format and five each group one to use and they can do this on their own and if under running complete two. Students really liked this task.
Geography Interactive Timers

Geography Interactive Timers

Timers give 1 or 3 minutes before they go off. The Volcano explodes with smoke and brimstone, with sound effects, whilst the iceberg melts away into the sea, the rain-forest timer starts a monsoon which ends after animals try to escape the rain and ends when the rain stops. These work well as hot seat activities, students have to answer as many questions or define as many key words before their time runs out.
Plenary Activities

Plenary Activities

(1)
A range of plenary activities. The Plenary wheel rotates when pressed. The plenary chooser will light up one of the activities. The ometer acts as a class meter reading on a debate question, students vote by clicking agree or disagree button and the needle will move with each vote till the last one which will show the class average and a discussion can follow. Use the class voter to carry out a class poll on their opinions to a question. Work well when comparing who they think is the most important person. The shoot out works by splitting the class into teams. Ask the students questions and if they get it right they can press shoot button and keep score of the item that was shot. Students loved this task. The plenary activities are all different version of the same task.
